When you call your bank or your credit card company for customer services there may have been instances when you feel like you are talking to people from overseas. Your assumption can be true, because it is possible that you are talking to the people thousands of miles away. This is called outsourcing. Outsourcing is a process in which a company contracts with other company to provide certain services. Through this contract the company’s management gets a lot of responsibilities off its shoulders. Especially the tasks like call-center services, email services, and payroll are outsourced by the companies. The question here is whether outsourcing is good or bad?

There have been many debates on the advantages and disadvantages of outsourcing. We would just look at some of the most significant pros or cons of outsourcing. One of the cons of outsourcing is the decrease in the employment opportunities for the people in the country where the company is actually located. When a company outsources its services overseas then the jobs are shifted to another place. As a result the locals do not get to be benefited by the company that operates in their area. Another disadvantage of outsourcing is the possibility of communication gap between the company and the customers. When a third part is operating on the company’s behalf then it can become difficult for the customers to engage in direct communication with the company.

It is difficult to say either outsourcing is good or bad because there are both positive and negative outcomes of outsourcing. What we can say for sure is that outsourcing is getting more popular these days.

Amazing graphic design work

Today I hired someone to help me with a logo design for my website.  I had many people apply for this position through oDesk, but one really stood out.  I started my interview process with 4 of the applicants, one started raising his prices as soon as he was interview and had not even read how simple the logo would be, so I dropped him.  The other 2 never had a chance after quickly hearing back from the one I instantly hired.

This amazing man during the interview process had sent me 2 concept ideas he drew up for the potential logo.  His dedication and on the spot readiness really made me excited.  For the next hour he and I swapped ideas and he constantly sent me revisions and changes for instant comparison and trying out.  He even made me 2 logo designs with slight differences for the final product and at an amazing price compared to US based logo design firms.
